Soda Slim Ingredients List: 5 Label Lines Checked One by One

Quick answer

The Soda Slim ingredients list has five lines per capsule: caffeine anhydrous 138 mg, green coffee bean extract 130 mg, raspberry ketone 130 mg, garcinia extract 130 mg and green tea extract 130 mg, in a hypromellose capsule. Every amount is printed. Measured against the research, caffeine is the only line with a known, small, short-lived effect.

The brand's own graphic names the five ingredients. The Supplement Facts panel adds the amounts, which is where the real reading starts.

The whole panel

What is in Soda Slim? The full ingredients list

Five active lines, one capsule material, and a bold Contains Caffeine note. That is the whole Supplement Facts panel. There is no proprietary blend and no hidden amount.

The Soda Slim ingredients list as printed on the Supplement Facts panel (per 1 capsule, 30 servings per bottle)
LineIngredientAmountStandardization printed
1Caffeine anhydrous138 mgNone (pure caffeine)
2Green coffee bean extract130 mgCoffea robusta seed, 50% chlorogenic acids
3Raspberry ketone130 mgNone printed
4Garcinia extract130 mgGarcinia cambogia fruit, 50% HCA
5Green tea extract130 mg98% polyphenols, 75% catechins, 45% EGCG, under 3% caffeine
OtherHypromelloseVegetable capsuleContains Caffeine (printed in bold)

The standardizations let you work out two numbers the label does not print: about 65 mg of HCA from the garcinia line and about 58.5 mg of EGCG from the green tea line. Both matter later.

Manufactured in the USA with globally sourced ingredients, per the label, and distributed for Gex Corporation LLP, Ogden, UT 84404.

Line 1

What does 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous do?

It is the biggest line and the only one with a quick, measurable effect. NIH reports that 100 mg of caffeine raised energy use by about 9.2 calories an hour for three hours or more, and that tolerance blunts the effect in regular users (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements).

In cups, 138 mg is roughly one to two small coffees. MedlinePlus puts a 6-ounce cup at about 75 to 100 mg (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet). FDA's general figure for healthy adults is 400 mg a day from all sources (FDA: how much caffeine is too much), so one capsule uses about a third of that budget.

One bottle, 30 capsules, 138 mg of caffeine in each. The label prints Contains Caffeine in bold.

Too much caffeine can cause restlessness, insomnia, a fast heart rate and anxiety (MedlinePlus: caffeine). NCCIH adds that weight products with a lot of caffeine can raise heart rate and cause abnormal rhythms (NCCIH: weight control). For most people, this line decides whether Soda Slim suits them.

Lines 2 and 3

What do green coffee bean extract and raspberry ketone add?

Green unroasted coffee beans in a wooden bowl
Green, unroasted coffee beans. The extract on line 2 is standardized to 50% chlorogenic acids and also carries some caffeine of its own.

Line 2, green coffee bean extract, is the ingredient with the most dramatic history. A 2011 meta-analysis found about 2.47 kg more weight loss than placebo, but rated the trials poor in quality (Green coffee meta-analysis (2011)). The study that made green coffee famous was retracted in 2014 (Green coffee study retracted (2014)), and the FTC settled with both the manufacturer and the marketer who promoted it (FTC: green coffee settlement (2014)) (FTC: green coffee marketer settlement (2015)).

Trials used 180 to 200 mg a day; Soda Slim gives 130 mg (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements). The extract also contains caffeine of its own, and the label does not say how much. Treat 138 mg as the floor for the capsule's caffeine, not the ceiling.

Fresh red raspberries on the branch
Raspberries. The ketone on line 3 is the compound behind their smell; its weight-loss evidence in people is missing.

Line 3, raspberry ketone, has the least behind it. NIH says it has only been studied in people as part of combination products, so its own effect and safety are not well known (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements). There is no human dose to compare with the label's 130 mg.

Lines 4 and 5

What do garcinia extract and green tea extract add?

Small green Garcinia fruits, one cut open, beside a spoon of pale extract powder
Garcinia fruit and extract powder. Line 4 is standardized to 50% HCA, which gives about 65 mg of HCA per capsule.

Line 4, garcinia extract, gives about 65 mg of HCA a day. The 12-week trial NIH describes used 1,500 mg of HCA a day in 135 adults and found no benefit over placebo (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements). A 2011 meta-analysis found a small, short-term effect of doubtful meaning (Garcinia meta-analysis (2011)). NCCIH says garcinia may be unsafe because of liver-toxicity reports (NCCIH: garcinia cambogia), and LiverTox scores it B, a probable cause of rare liver injury (LiverTox: Garcinia cambogia).

Green tea leaves and a bowl of bright green tea powder
Green tea leaves and powder. Line 5 is standardized to 45% EGCG, about 58.5 mg per capsule.

Line 5, green tea extract, is standardized to 45% EGCG, so one capsule gives about 58.5 mg. EFSA linked 800 mg of EGCG a day or more to early signs of liver damage (EFSA: green tea catechins (2018)), so the dose here is far below that signal. Even so, LiverTox rates green tea extract a well-established cause of rare liver injury (LiverTox: green tea), and NCCIH notes that high doses of green tea can reduce the effect of the drug nadolol (NCCIH: green tea).

The green tea line also adds under 4 mg of caffeine, from its printed under 3% caffeine figure.

What is missing

What is not in the Soda Slim formula, and what is not published?

The label lists no filler, no coloring and no sweetener, only hypromellose for the capsule. No wheat or dairy ingredient appears, though no allergen test or gluten certifier is named.

Sodaslim gummies, sodaslim drops and sodaslim pills are common searches. The only form we can confirm is the 30-count capsule. No gummy, drop or tablet version is published on the sales page we checked.

Not published: a third-party lab result for any line, the caffeine content of the green coffee extract, the factory name, and a lot or expiry date on the printed label wrap. Look for the lot on the bottle base.

Who should not take these five ingredients is printed on the caution panel: anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing mothers, and anyone on a medication or with a medical condition without a physician's say-so. The two liver-flagged lines make that advice more than a formality for anyone with liver disease.

Soda Slim is a dietary supplement. It is not FDA approved, no supplement is, and nothing on this list treats or cures a disease. Bring the label to your doctor if you are unsure about any line.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Soda Slim ingredients

What's in Soda Slim?

Per capsule: caffeine anhydrous 138 mg, green coffee bean extract 130 mg, raspberry ketone 130 mg, garcinia extract 130 mg and green tea extract 130 mg. The capsule is hypromellose, a vegetable material. The label prints every amount.

Is there a proprietary blend in Soda Slim?

No. Each of the five ingredients has its own printed amount, and three of them print a standardization: 50% chlorogenic acids, 50% HCA and 45% EGCG. That is more transparent than many weight-loss supplement ingredient lists.

How much caffeine is in the Soda Slim formula?

At least 138 mg per capsule from caffeine anhydrous, plus under 4 mg from the green tea extract and an unprinted amount from the green coffee bean extract. FDA's general daily figure for healthy adults is 400 mg from all sources.

Which Soda Slim ingredient has the strongest evidence?

Caffeine, and the effect is small. NIH reports that 100 mg raised energy use by about 9.2 calories an hour for three hours or more, and that tolerance shrinks the effect. The four extracts have weak, poor-quality or no human evidence at the label doses.

Do any Soda Slim ingredients affect the liver?

Garcinia extract and green tea extract are both linked to rare liver injury in LiverTox. The amounts here, about 65 mg HCA and 58.5 mg EGCG, are far below the levels in most reports, but anyone with liver disease should ask a doctor first.

Our view

Our view: what does the ingredients list add up to?

The Soda Slim ingredients list is honest in one way: every amount is printed. It is weak in another: the amounts are small next to the research, and the research itself is thin.

If you buy, buy it as a 138 mg caffeine capsule with four small extracts. Expect the caffeine, and expect little else that you can measure.

Check your daily caffeine, read the caution panel, and talk to your doctor if you have liver disease, a heart rhythm problem, high blood pressure or take any medicine, including nadolol.
