Caffeine in Weight Capsules: What 138 mg Means for Your Day
One SodaSlim capsule has 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous, roughly one to two small cups of coffee. NIH says a 100 mg dose raised energy use by only about 9.2 calories an hour, and tolerance blunts even that (NIH ODS: caffeine). FDA's general limit for healthy adults is 400 mg a day from all sources (FDA: how much caffeine is too much), so the capsule uses about a third of it.

The number
How much caffeine is in a SodaSlim capsule?
Each SodaSlim capsule lists 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous. That is the biggest single line on the Supplement Facts panel, a little more than each of the four 130 mg extracts.
A 6-ounce cup of brewed coffee has about 75 to 100 mg (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet (pregnancy)). So one capsule sits somewhere between one and two small cups. The label prints "Contains Caffeine" in bold, a fair disclosure.
| Amount | What it is | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 75-100 mg | One 6-ounce cup of coffee | (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet (pregnancy)) |
| 138 mg | One SodaSlim capsule (caffeine anhydrous line) | Bottle label |
| 200 mg | Upper daily amount advised in pregnancy | (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet (pregnancy)) |
| 400 mg | FDA's general daily limit for healthy adults | (FDA: how much caffeine is too much) |
| About 1,200 mg | Taken quickly, can cause seizures | (FDA: how much caffeine is too much) |
The full label, line by line, sits on the SodaSlim Supplement Facts page.
The research
Does caffeine help with weight loss?
Only a little, and only for a short time. NIH's Office of Dietary Supplements reports that 100 mg of caffeine raised energy use by about 9.2 calories an hour for three hours or more (NIH ODS: caffeine).
Over three hours that adds up to roughly 28 calories: real, but tiny next to what you eat and how much you move.
There is a second catch. The same NIH source says tolerance blunts the effect (NIH ODS: caffeine). Daily coffee drinkers get less of a lift.
The front of the bottle says "Promotes Energy Production From Fat*". The asterisk ties it to the FDA statement: the agency has not evaluated it. It is the brand's wording, not a tested result for SodaSlim.
NCCIH puts the bigger picture plainly. Of the weight-loss supplements it has reviewed, none has been shown to be effective for weight loss (NCCIH: weight control). Caffeine is a stimulant with a small, fading effect, not a weight-loss medicine.
Daily budget
How much other caffeine can you have with SodaSlim?
About 262 mg, if you are a healthy adult using FDA's 400 mg general limit (FDA: how much caffeine is too much). One capsule already takes 138 mg of that budget. The rest has to cover coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks and pre-workout powders.
| Your situation | Daily caffeine guide | After one capsule |
|---|---|---|
| Healthy adult | 400 mg (FDA: how much caffeine is too much) | About 262 mg left |
| Pregnant | Under 200 mg (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet (pregnancy)) | Label says do not use |
| Under 18 | Not covered by the adult limit | Label says do not use |
| Anxiety, sleep trouble, arrhythmia or high blood pressure | Ask a provider (MedlinePlus: caffeine) | No safe figure published |
The bars compare each printed amount with research doses and safety limits. For caffeine, a short bar is good news.
Who should ask first
Who should avoid caffeine pills like SodaSlim?
MedlinePlus lists the people who should check with a provider about caffeine: anyone with anxiety, sleep problems, an irregular heartbeat or high blood pressure, and anyone who is pregnant (MedlinePlus: caffeine). The SodaSlim label adds its own limits.
- Not for anyone under 18 (label).
- Not for pregnant or nursing mothers (label). Pregnancy advice is under 200 mg a day from every source (MedlinePlus: caffeine in the diet (pregnancy)).
- Ask a physician first if you take a medicine or have a medical condition (label).
MedlinePlus also names what too much feels like: restlessness, trouble sleeping, a fast heart rate and anxiety (MedlinePlus: caffeine). Medicines and caffeine are covered in more depth on SodaSlim and your medicines.
Heart
Can caffeine in weight capsules affect your heart?
Yes, at higher amounts. NCCIH warns that weight products with a lot of caffeine can raise heart rate and cause abnormal heart rhythms (NCCIH: weight control).
One capsule is moderate. Stacked on several coffees, it is not. A pounding or skipping heartbeat means stop and call a doctor.

Order nowConcentrated caffeine
Why did FDA act on pure and concentrated caffeine?
Because a tiny scoop can hold a dangerous dose. On April 13, 2018, FDA said that supplements of pure or highly concentrated caffeine sold in bulk to consumers are unlawful (FDA: pure/concentrated caffeine (2018), as relayed).
A note on the source: we read that announcement as relayed by ConsumerLab, not on FDA's own page. The relay reports that FDA cited at least two deaths in otherwise healthy people, and the risk of measuring out more than is safe (FDA: pure/concentrated caffeine (2018), as relayed).
A capsule is pre-measured, so there is no spoon to misjudge. Its risk is quieter: it is easy to forget it counts toward your day.
The label says take one capsule daily and do not exceed the recommended dose. An extra capsule only adds 138 mg more caffeine.
In practice
How do you take a caffeine capsule sensibly?
Start by counting, then time it early.
Add up your usual day
List every coffee, tea, soda and energy drink. If the total already passes about 260 mg, the capsule pushes you over FDA's general limit.
Take it in the morning
The sales page suggests mornings. Caffeine lingers for hours, so an early capsule protects your sleep.
Set a cut-off
Skip extra caffeine after early afternoon on capsule days. Poor sleep makes cravings harder to manage, not easier.
Notice how you feel
Jitters, a fast heartbeat or broken sleep in the first week are a reason to stop, not to push through.

FAQ
Caffeine in weight capsules: common questions
How much caffeine is in one SodaSlim capsule?
One SodaSlim capsule lists 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous on its Supplement Facts panel. The green tea extract adds under 4 mg, and the green coffee extract adds an amount the label does not print. In everyday terms, the capsule is about one to two small cups of brewed coffee.
Is 138 mg of caffeine a lot for one pill?
It is a moderate amount. A 6-ounce cup of coffee has about 75 to 100 mg, and FDA's general limit for healthy adults is 400 mg a day. One capsule uses about a third of that limit, so your other drinks decide whether the day stays within it.
Does caffeine make you burn more calories?
Only slightly. NIH reports that 100 mg of caffeine raised energy use by about 9.2 calories an hour for three hours or more, and tolerance shrinks the effect in regular coffee drinkers. That is far too small to replace changes in eating, activity and sleep.
Can I drink coffee while taking SodaSlim?
Many healthy adults can, if they keep the total under 400 mg a day. After one 138 mg capsule, that leaves about 262 mg for coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks. People with anxiety, sleep problems, heart rhythm issues or high blood pressure should ask a provider first.
Can caffeine pills cause a fast heartbeat?
Yes, especially at high amounts. NCCIH warns that weight products with a lot of caffeine can raise heart rate and cause abnormal heart rhythms. MedlinePlus lists a fast heart rate among the signs of too much caffeine. Stop the capsule and call a doctor if your heartbeat races or skips.
